Art Deco Historic District

A residential neighborhood where regular South Beach locals live among 1930s Art Deco buildings, a few blocks from the beach.

When Miami Beach boomed in the 1930s, the Art Deco style didn't stop at the hotels. Builders used the same rounded corners, porthole windows and pastel stucco for modest apartment buildings a few blocks inland, homes for the people who lived and worked on the beach.

Today these quiet, tree-lined streets are where South Beach residents live, walk their dogs and do their shopping, a few minutes from the beach crowds. It is the calmer, everyday side of the neighborhood, and a part of Miami where many people get by without a car.
